Does it still fail if adding dev-util/gtk-doc to the image?
(In reply to Kristian Fiskerstrand from comment #8) > Does it still fail if adding dev-util/gtk-doc to the image? and/or gtk-doc-am
(In reply to Kristian Fiskerstrand from comment #9) yes
(In reply to Toralf Förster from comment #10) mr-fox / # eix -I gtk-doc [I] dev-util/gtk-doc-am Available versions: 1.25-r1^t Installed versions: 1.25-r1^t(02:27:27 PM 06/15/2017) Homepage: http://www.gtk.org/gtk-doc/ Description: Automake files from gtk-doc
Better now? commit b15df86d0c99397d56b920496ba0eb745a7b6719 (HEAD -> master, origin/master, origin/HEAD) Author: Kristian Fiskerstrand <k_f@gentoo.org> Date: Sun Jun 25 13:15:55 2017 +0200 x11-libs/xapps: Add dep on gtk-doc-am Gentoo-Bug: 622636 Package-Manager: Portage-2.3.6, Repoman-2.3.1
(In reply to Kristian Fiskerstrand from comment #12) Erm, the "yes" is meant to "Does it still fail" So the package still fails at this particular image even if gtk-doc-am is installed. (FWIW it compiles fine at 7 others)
OTOH this image is rather "full" (~9200 packages installed within 14 days) - so maybe a side effect of another package ?
(In reply to Toralf Förster from comment #14) > OTOH this image is rather "full" (~9200 packages installed within 14 days) - > so maybe a side effect of another package ? I'm having issues reproducing it at least, the latest update adds explicit enablement to --configure though so was wondering if that made a difference, but indeed, it might very well be influenced by something else
Hmm, $> e-file gtk-doc.make prints dev-util/gtk-doc, this isn't installed and dev-util/gtk-doc-am is neede dby a lot of installed programs - maybe xapps hard deps on dev-util/gtk-doc ?

Seems this is recommended by https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Project:GNOME/Gnome_Team_Ebuild_Policies#Handling_gtk-doc_documentation anyways, so added it: commit 259d842d4af19a4ab2fe087cba5f7b468eebe4be (HEAD -> master, origin/master, origin/HEAD) Author: Kristian Fiskerstrand <k_f@gentoo.org> Date: Sun Jun 25 17:58:42 2017 +0200 x11-libs/xapps: Add explicit dep for dev-util/gtk-doc Gentoo-Bug: 622636 Package-Manager: Portage-2.3.6, Repoman-2.3.1
(In reply to Kristian Fiskerstrand from comment #17) and in the mean while verified, unmerging gtk-doc-am and emerging gtk-doc solved the issue :-)
(In reply to Toralf Förster from comment #18) > (In reply to Kristian Fiskerstrand from comment #17) > and in the mean while verified, unmerging gtk-doc-am and emerging gtk-doc > solved the issue :-) Thanks, closing then
(In reply to Kristian Fiskerstrand from comment #19) b/c gtk-doc/gtk-doc depends on gtk-doc/gtk-doc-am I think gtk-doc/gtk-doc-am seems not to be mandatory to be defined here too, or ?

Doesn't hurt either, the autoconf macros would still be needed even if gtk-doc.make was shipped along with the tarball and the indirect dep removed at some point
