Would it be possible to include this patch into gentoo-dev-sources? ftp://sources.redhat.com/pub/dm/patches/2.6-unstable/2.6.8.1/2.6.8.1-udm1.tar.bz2 We'd also need multipath tools, so I'll open another bugid with it's ebuild. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Can you please explain more about what this does? I'd rather not take a patch that isn't in the mainline kernel, it would be beneficial during installation from the LiveCDs?
It's required for the dm-bbr features which were added into last release of gentoo-dev-sources. I'll be including these patches from now on. Expect new release soon.
Included in gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.8-r6
This patchset was once a part of gentoo-dev-sources, but I see it's been removed since we moved 2.6.x to gentoo-sources, so I reopened this bug. Could you please include it again? Patchset is stable-but-not-yet-included-in-mainline-kernel version of kernel part of device-mapper, which, among other things, offers dm-multipath target support prefered by most SAN/NAS setups for loadbalancing / failover. Current version (for 2.6.11) is 2.6.11-rc3-udm2. Patching over gentoo-sources gives few rejected hungs, some cosmetic in nature, some seem to be just syntax repacking of the same code; but overall, it works like a charm (verified in production environment).
Unfortunately we had to drop this from 2.6.11 releases. The udm patches are causing problems (hardlocks, compile errors, and other nasties). Fortunately, dm-multipath has been merged into the 2.6.12 tree. So we'll be including dm-bbr again from that point. However it won't return for any more 2.6.11 releases. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Good, I havent noticed that inclusion in main kernel... I'll switch back to 'resolved - later' status and wait for 2.6.12... thanks though :)
