Description Jerome 2004-08-29 22:38:27 UTC
When trying to install the package net-im/jabberoo-1.9.4 it complains that the version of sigc++ I have is too new (it wants version 1.2 upto 2.0, I have verion 2.0.1) if someone could edit the build to say that 2.0.1 is OK I would appricate it mucho!

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.just try to emerge jabberoo-1.9.4 with sigc++2.0.1 installed
Comment 1 Gustavo Felisberto (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-01 10:17:46 UTC
Can you please post the output of emerge where it fails?
It looks to me this is a upstream problem.
Comment 2 Jerome 2004-09-01 15:07:41 UTC
it works now, did someone update anything?
Comment 3 Gustavo Felisberto (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-02 16:41:14 UTC
Not in the last few months :)

# $Header: /var/cvsroot/gentoo-x86/net-im/jabberoo/jabberoo-1.9.4.ebuild,v 1.3 2004/06/24 22:54:15 agriffis Exp $

libsigc++-2.0.1 and libsigc++-1.2.5 (1.2.5 is the latest stable) are in diferent slots, maybe in between try's something installed 1.2.5. Can you please very that you have 1.2.5 installed, if that is true we must change the dep to be <libsigc++2.0
Comment 4 Jerome 2004-09-03 12:31:26 UTC
I cant reproduce the problem anymore, so unless anyone else is having problems consider this bug closed.
Comment 5 Gustavo Felisberto (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-04 13:03:41 UTC
Well what cant be fixed is fixed we always say in Portugal
Comment 6 Laurence Withers 2004-09-09 14:29:44 UTC
Can we re-open this bug? The issue is that jabberoo depends on libsigc++-1.2,
it won't work with the 2.0 series. Therefore, the ebuild for jabberoo should
have the dependency "=dev-libs/libsigc++-1.2*".
Comment 7 Laurence Withers 2004-09-15 05:26:22 UTC
See http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=63479 for a fixed ebuild.

That ebuild != the one in portage, so it isn't really fixed. The one in portage depends on >=dev-libs/libsigc++-1.2 (which will allow any of the 2.0.x verions), but configure fails if sigc++ > 2.0. Here's the exact message:

checking for sigc++-1.2 < 2.0... Package sigc++-1.2 was not found in the pkg-config search path. Perhaps you should add the directory containing `sigc++-1.2.pc' to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable No package 'sigc++-1.2' found
configure: error: Library requirements (sigc++-1.2 < 2.0) not met; consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your libraries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them.

Please fix the dependency.
Comment 9 Christian Faulhammer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-18 02:33:10 UTC
So this can be fixed by a simple =dev-libs/sigc++-1.2*?

Sending this to maintainer-needed, been rotting here for two years.

antarus@kyoto ~/code/pkgcore/bin $ ./pquery --revdep net-im/jabberoo
antarus@kyoto ~/code/pkgcore/bin $

Dead upstream

Is the net-im herd (thats chainsaw, gothgirl, humpback, reb, sekretarz, tester) even interested in maintaining this ? If so, please fix the package.
