It is sad to read that you have problems with the software. The situation seems to be a bit more complicate and requires some analysis. We can not help you efficiently via bug tracker. The bug tracker aims rather on specific problems in .ebuilds and less on individual systems. I have had very good experience on the gentoo IRC [1] with questions like this. Of course there are also forums and mailing lists [2,3]. I hope you understand, that I will close the bug here therefore and wish you good luck on one of the mentioned channels [4]. Please reopen the ticket in order to provide an indication for an error in the ebuild. Please attach the logfiles [5] [1] https://www.gentoo.org/get-involved/irc-channels/ [2] https://forums.gentoo.org/ [3] https://www.gentoo.org/get-involved/mailing-lists/all-lists.html [4] https://www.gentoo.org/support/ [5] https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Bugzilla/Bug_report_guide#Problems_at_build_time
As this version is a development version the problem may be related to changes currently happening with xfce4-settings and xfconf (development versions) as all three are interacting .. via dbus/gdbus depending on how recent the versions you use are.. Note: the latest development versions of xfconf .. and xfce4-panel are not complementary as xfce4-panel needs updates i.e. completion of the dbus-glib to gdbus transition ( this is why some of these are hard maaked at the moment ) If you do not know how to deal with this revert to non-development versions. your error looks like incompatible versions of xfce4 development (beta) ebuilds i.e. 4.13.* series thus the gdbus/dbus-glib incompatibility errors.
(In reply to Jonas Stein from comment #1) > The bug tracker aims rather > on specific problems in .ebuilds and less on individual systems. Since when? You know that this is not true? The Gentoo bug tracker is not only for bugs in ebuilds. It's for every bug, so that the maintainer of the package can see if it's related to the package or if it's an upstream bug.
Btw., this is a bug in xfce4-session-settings. I can reproduce this bug, too.
