Kudzu doesn't seem to work. hwsetup is annoying, wants kudzu-knoppix, etc. Kudzu can by default not detect crap. Here's what's needed: - hwsetup needs to depend on hwdata-knoppix - hwsetup should depend on virtual/kudzu (kudzu or kudzu-knoppix) - emerging kudzu should cause hwsetup to be merged afterwards, as kudzu is useless without hwsetup; at the very least, display info about this afterwards recommending it - A kudzu init.d is needed This shouldn't be a hard fix.
Created attachment 38330 [details] init.d/kudzu Just a simple script to run kudzu, then hwsetup
Created attachment 38331 [details] conf.d/kudzu Conf.d for the above init.d This does nothing; the line in there is commented. You might want to use -s by default though. . .
Kudzu also doesn't seem to do things like mousedev or psmouse (needed for 2.6) . . . but you guys don't work on kudzu. Just figured you'd like to know, ya know? :)
yes, I would like to see it fixed. Other bug reports about it have been assigned over a year ago, and no change since then.
I was actually planning on removing kudzu from the tree entirely in the near future. I see no point in us having a virtual for kudzu. I also only plan on making a new "kudzu-gentoo" in the near future, with our own patches applied to it, as neither the official kudzu, nor kudzu-knoppix do exactly what we want it to do.

I'm going to revisit all of this now that I have someone interested in helping with kudzu(-knoppix) for non-livecd builds.
OK... I added these init scripts to kudzu, and am doing the same for kudzu-knoppix... hwsetup now looks for either kudzu-knoppix (its preference) or kudzu...
