git tree has support for newer ruby. I've pushed snapshot as: https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/commit/?id=88e32c614265db1783bc02782cdae880d786d227 At least it fixes build failure in my ~amd64 chroot. Thanks for the report!
