Fetching nvidia-drivers-381.22 source files currently fails (trying from Europe; same problem as in https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=617096).

Proposed patch: https://github.com/gentoo/gentoo/pull/4605

@jer, there's a PR @ [1] that fixes this and ARM URLs. Could you take a look whether it can be merged?

Yes, same here on amd64 multilib

$ emerge -avfO nvidia-drivers

These are the packages that would be fetched, in order:

[ebuild     U  ] x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-381.22:0/381::gentoo [381.09:0/381::gentoo] USE="X acpi driver gtk3 kms multilib tools uvm wayland -compat -pax_kernel -static-libs" ABI_X86="(64) -32 (-x32)" 76.378 KiB

Total: 1 package (1 upgrade), Size of downloads: 76.378 KiB

Would you like to fetch the source files for these packages? [Yes/No]

From ${URL}:

The various mirrors got changed around after the switch to the new content distribution network. Please use https://http.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/nvidia-settings/nvidia-settings-381.22.tar.bz2

(or the mirror I push to github, https://github.com/NVIDIA/nvidia-settings)

This recent commit appears to attempt to address the issue:

https://github.com/gentoo/gentoo/commit/f6d13e04dfc44a35bf8da24975a76d17bb7f5c18

However it has had the opposite effect and actually broken these versions for me

No, that's NOT the same problem. That one was about Nvidia switching off their FTP site. This one is about their load balancer getting confused.

I might switch to the github archive for nvidia-settings.

Yes, I reverted that.

> This one is about their load balancer getting confused.

I'm not quite sure it's their load balancer. I think some of their servers simply don't have the full set.

> I might switch to the github archive for nvidia-settings.

I did that, except for 340.102 which does appear to be available through http.download.nvidia.com[sic].

Plz test.
