The license in the ebuild is freedist but can't find a license upstream. This license should be changed to all-right-reserved. see https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=285233 Upstream is dead The ebuild has no maintainer. Could not see any license information. If you are interested in this package, please contact the author and fork it, if legal. This ebuild would be a candidate for tree cleaning if it can not be fixed.
I don't think we should be redistributing this without a license. I've masked it for removal and sent the announcement.
The license issue aside, I was considering picking this up as it is a file format I have some history with. Some searching revealed that FreeBSD talked about removing it for the same reason but there is an alternative called xdms, which we also have in the tree.
Chewi, I don't have any particular interest in this, I just saw that they were a) maintainer-needed b) not used by any other packages c) unlicensed (all rights reserved, by default) so I masked them and decided to go the extra mile and last rite them. If you have an interest in undms, feel free to take it and remove my mask. A license of "all rights reserved" is theoretically possible, but since the upstream host is dead, I don't see a way to mirror the source and get it to the users. This is the text of that license: All rights reserved. This package has an explicit "all rights reserved" clause, or comes without any license, or only with a disclaimer. This means that you have only the rights that are granted to you by law. If you have lawfully acquired a copy of the program (e.g., by buying it or by downloading it from the author's site) then in many legislations you are allowed to compile it, run it, make a backup, and to patch it as necessary, without permission from the copyright holder. Redistribution of the program is not allowed. Disclaimer: Presumably, the above applies to the United States and countries in the European Union at least. However, it is your own responsibility to obey your country's laws.
Sorry, I didn't word that well. I meant that it can go seeing as xdms serves as an alternative.
