media-video/vlc-2.2.4-r1
x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-381.09

the vdpau useflag causes a crash with vlc and cvlc

Removing vdpau useflag with package.use from vlc removes this issue

Ebuilds should be such written, that only tested dependencies are allowed.

Sorry, but your bugreport gives no useful information what's your problem exactly. You didn't provide any relevant info, e.g. emerge --info or reproduction steps.

Please refer to https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Bugzilla/Bug_report_guide and create a proper bugreport.

Please don't think maintainers are clueless human beings. Remember that it's impossible to test every single software/hardware combination.
