When booting using the live cd 2004.2 in my scsi cdrom on my system (dual pentium3 on an asus p2b) the booting fails with the ash job control message. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. insert cd 2. boot
to fix this boot using the gentoo-nofb kernel with the doscsi noapci dousb options.
What if you use the smp kernel? What did you use to boot when you got the error?
smp kernel failed.. And to get the error I just did not touch the keyboard (default settings)
I'm sorry... I must have totally missed that you were booting from a SCSI cdrom initially. We don't load the SCSI drivers on purpose. It is well documented that one must pass "doscsi" for SCSI CDROM support.
Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux". I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers, this is the only reasonable way to do this.
