I've tried to run a freshly installed quake3 server, by doing /etc/init.d/q3osp-ded start, but it did nothing. I found that changing games user's shell from /bin/false to /bin/bash solved the problem. I'm wondering if updating /etc/passwd it is the right thing to do, but I'd like to see this fixed in Gentoo. Thanks for feedback.
updated the eclass to make sure the dedicated user has a shell of /bin/bash instead of /bin/false
