when emerging the skype ebuild a two script files are placed in /opt/skype with a size of 998 bytes, they are identical. the actual binary is not installed on the system
please provide more info as is sugested in the bug add walkthro. emerge info is a must. And what version you are trying (there are two versions in portage) Also there was such a bug a few days ago, it was related with -qt in USE vars, if that is the case you probably have a old portage snapshot, emerge sync will probably help.
Bug reported by Zumo happened to me too... I'm synced with the tree of April 29th... And happened with skype 1.0.0.20 and 1.1.0.3 (with static flag)... To reproduce the bug, simply try to emerge skype and then run it... In the process list you'll see a infinite recursive calls...
