New wine package fails to install. There is no /etc/portage/bashrc but any other package builds and installs just fine, so I guess I don't need one. If bash did not produce an error message above, it's possible * that the ebuild has called `exit` when it should have called `die` * instead. This behavior may also be triggered by a corrupt bash binary or * a hardware problem such as memory or cpu malfunction. If the problem is * not reproducible or it appears to occur randomly, then it is likely to * be triggered by a hardware problem. If you suspect a hardware problem * then you should try some basic hardware diagnostics such as memtest. * Please do not report this as a bug unless it is consistently * reproducible and you are sure that your bash binary and hardware are * functioning properly. -------------- # emerge --info Portage 2.3.5 (python 2.7.13-final-0, default/linux/amd64/13.0/desktop, gcc-5.4.0, glibc-2.24-r1, Hello again, I was looking closely to the problem and figured out a workaround: The problem was in app-emulation/wine-d3d9-2.5/temp/environment:4046, so... 1. I just commented the for loop (which is related to man pages in some languages: german, polish and another I cannot remember). 2. Manually installed and merged the ebuild. # ebuild /usr/portage/app-emulation/wine-d3d9/wine-d3d9-2.5.ebuild install # ebuild /usr/portage/app-emulation/wine-d3d9/wine-d3d9-2.5.ebuild merge And voilà, it was installed and running.
The difference in the line number of the error: [...]app-emulation/wine-d3d9-2.5/temp/environment: line 4051 [...]app-emulation/wine-d3d9-2.5/temp/environment: line 4046 was due to the LINGUAS variable (My first attempt had my usual setting, i.e., spanish, english, german and japanese support; but for the second one I had manually specified LINGUAS="en_US") However, the for loop is the same, and the workaround is also the same.
