Description Toon Verstraelen 2004-08-23 05:45:28 UTC
When I close both windows of the skype application (under gnome), the skype-processes are still running. I guess this must be a bug. Gnome session management restarts these processes after logout & login, even though I closed the program before logout. It's clear that this is non-desired behaviour. The situation becomes even worse when one closes skype and starts it again in the same session. The session manager will start two instances of skype after logout & login.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. start skype under gnome
2. close all it's windows
3. logout
4. login to that gnome-session again

Actual Results:
skype gets started automatically

Expected Results:
skype should terminate all it's processes when the user stops the application.

skype is a commercial written in QT with a crappy implementation of the notification area. You cannot kill skype by closing the windows, but have to choose exit from the notification area.

So if htis should be fixed, its upstream or with the maintainer.

recommendation: close/upstream

Agreed.
