Both vixie-cron and cronie run jobs at a wrong date. In my crontab I have: 6 18 3 * 1-5 rsync -av /usr/src/linux/.config /home/thelma/backup/etc/etc_atom/kenel-config and checking the /var/log/messages it run at 18:06 today (Mar.21) ? but it should run every month on the 3rd. only at 18:06 grep cron /var/log/messages ... You have both the day of month (3) and day of week (1-5) specified. From crontab(5): Note: The day of a command's execution can be specified in the following two fields — 'day of month', and 'day of week'. If both fields are restricted (i.e., do not contain the "*" character), the command will be run when either field matches the current time. For exam‐ ple, "30 4 1,15 * 5" would cause a command to be run at 4:30 am on the 1st and 15th of each month, plus every Friday.
