Kernel trace from syslog

Running 'vboxheadless' (or VBoxHeadless) with *any* arguments
**including none** results in a segmentation fault with the
attached kernel trace complaining about "invalid opcode: 0000"
in syslog.

Trying to start a VM with vboxmanage doesn't seem to work either.
The log (.VirtualBox/VBoxSVC.log) contains this error message:

00:00:00.108174 nspr-2   Failed to open "/dev/vboxdrvu", errno=13, rc=VERR_VM_DRIVER_NOT_ACCESSIBLE
