Description Mathias Gumz 2004-08-22 15:10:34 UTC
i installed kde-3.3 completly _without_ the artspackage. but /usr/kde/3.3/bin is not in the path -> the /etc/env.d/47kdepaths-3.3.0 is set in the arts-ebuild.

is there a reason why its not created in the kde-env.ebuild?

it's also created in the kdelibs ebuild if you didn't install arts.
Comment 2 Mathias Gumz 2004-08-23 06:22:00 UTC
yes, as the ebuild says. but it wasnt created here (for whatever reason) and the question is:

why is it in the arts-ebuild? kdelibs is needed for sure, arts not -> why is this create-the-env-files-thingy in arts?

and what is kde-env.ebuild good for when the kde-env-thingies are created by arts/kdelibs ?

Comment 3 Caleb Tennis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-03 07:09:09 UTC
because the stuff that's in there is kde/arts version specific. the stuff in kde-env is global to all kde installations.
