This is a problem with poppler - qpdfview depends correctly on poppler[qt4] and can't do much if a library that is supposed to be there isn't. I'm pretty sure this is a prefix/rap issue, so assigning there - but please feel free to assign the relevant package maintainers if needed.
app-text/poppler[qt4] is going to be a thing of the past soon, so this may be obsolete without putting work into it.

I can confirm I can compile poppler-0.67.0::gentoo with USE=qt5 on two Gentoo-Prefix hosts. I am not certain I am happy with bug #612918#c2 and I would still hope there could be a better error message caught in time, but I take it as it was a temporary glitch tyhen and no code change to the ebuild could even be done.
