Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1.install proftpd with mod_sftp enabled
2.configure mod_sftp to be running
3.use client like openssh 7.3 to connect to sftp server

Thanks for the patch!

Did you have a change to grab a backtrace from proftpd?
Comment 3 Yuri Mamaev 2017-03-26 10:50:24 UTC
Not required for me, as I found the issue fixed in current upstream with description on what happened, so just crested quick patch to fix.

I'm afraid it's required for me to get an idea what patch fixes
and should we apply it or just grab upstream version instead.

I'll try to package 1.3.6rc4 today.

Do you have a link to upstream bug and/or fix?

I see a bunch of fixes in mod_sftp. For example: https://github.com/proftpd/proftpd/commit/93ce35081ea88a83f9e077be3a3c8165c2623505

Which openssl(or libressl?) version you have installed?

I've pushed 1.3.6_rc4 as: https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/commit/?id=fba48bedb74f80376bb3a6761a052244350f4fd8

Please check if it survives mod_sftp for you.
