Well, take a look at the path of that failed patch.
Comment 6 Mark Knecht 2017-03-04 23:34:47 UTC
It's there because the previous version required it. There is no vlc-2.2.4-r1 patch directory.

Not sure what else to say.
Comment 8 Mark Knecht 2017-03-04 23:42:29 UTC
I understand your point but I don't know why a 2.2.4 patch is getting called for 2.2.4-r1. Sorry, I'm just a dumb, stable user. eix says 2.2.4-r1 is stable so why am I wrong for assuming it should just build?

Let me know where to look to fix this and I will. I'm just reporting that on my 'mostly stable' machine this dumb stable user isn't being successful.
Comment 9 Andreas Sturmlechner gentoo-dev 2017-03-04 23:48:22 UTC
Please just remove your user patch. By observation we can conclude that epatch_user will also apply your patches to revbumps.
Comment 10 Mark Knecht 2017-03-04 23:52:24 UTC
Yeah, OK, it builds if I move the patch. Makes it harder to go back. Hopefully I won't have to.

Thanks & bye
