Bug 360483 turned off usage reporting by default, but now the setting moved to /etc/drbd.d/global_common.conf and it's on by default again. Just installing drbd caused a usage report behind my back and terminal spam when doing something unrelated: # /etc/init.d/libvirtd stop * Caching service dependencies ... DRBD module version: 8.4.7 userland version: 8.4.3 you should upgrade your drbd tools! <snip a 18 blank lines> --== Thank you for participating in the global usage survey ==-- The server's response is: you are the 7898th user to install this version * Stopping libvirtd ... Infrastructure packages shouldn't be making Internet connections for no reason. Usage reporting is fine if it *opt-in*.
FYI, this is sys-cluster/drbd-8.4.3-r2
I have addressed this issue (and the spurious calls of drbdadm) on the following pull request: https://github.com/gentoo/gentoo/pull/4125
