Description Philip White 2004-08-20 09:14:35 UTC
My university course requires SPIM MIPS Simulator version 7.0, which was released in July 2004. I see that Gentoo offers only the old version 6.5.

I'm requesting an update to version 7.0, which is at http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~larus/spim.html.

If I have to make and submit my own ebuild to get this issue resolved, please let me know.

Why was this assigned to mips? This is a version bump for a mips emulator package. Bouncing back to bug-wranglers.

spim-7.0.ebuild

This is just a first attempt at providing an ebuild for spim-0.7. It seems to
work on my box but may need further editing and testing.

Beautiful. It worked for me with no modifications on Portage 2.0.50-r10 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.3.4, glibc-2.3.4.20040808-r0, 2.6.7). Thanks a lot!

I worked with robertc96@hotmail.com during bugday to fix some issues with installing exceptions.s in /usr/sbin. I committed the new spim-7.0 ebuild after working out these issues.
