Hi, it is way too difficult to find out what Gentoo image is usable for UEFI boot. Somewhere on gentoo wiki about LiveDVD was finally mentioned the minimal iso images are not UEFI capable. Indeed, that is my experience with several images I downloaded and later realized they just do ot boot on UEFI host. You are loosing potential users because many laptops these days are only UEFI-capable. Please fix https://gentoo.org/downloads/ and tage each download entry with (BIOS or UEFI or BIOS+UEFI words). Thank you
The page https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:AMD64/Installation/Media does not provide URLs where to obtain UEFI-capable installation media. The first UEFI note appears way too far in "Booting the installation media" is pretty much much eseless without pointers where to continue. The section "Gentoo Linux installation media" of the same page is absolutely quiet about UEFI. And, the "Hardware requirements" should emphasize that PC-BIOS is a hardware requirement.
It is true that the minimal ISO does not boot into UEFI. However, you are still able to install for UEFI if you copy a bootable image (grub, stub kernel, etc.) to the backup location of <EFI System Partition>/EFI/BOOT/BOOTX64.EFI. A UEFI bootable medium may make it automatic and somewhat easier, but is not absolutely required.
Hi Brian, thank you for explanation. Well, I did loose in sum a few weeks already during last 2 years while getting UEFI to boot into Linux and Win8.1 or latter so I do barely remember something what you seem to describe. However, although I am working a lot on Linux I am not going to even try this. Regarding "A UEFI bootable medium may make it automatic and somewhat easier ..." it is actually absolutely required IMHO, and this should be a high-priority issue. Especially as one cannot even boot using PC-BIOS, install Gentoo (emerge grub) and before first Gentoo bootup switch to UEFI. Shall I raise a new bug report / feature request to ask for improved installation media? I think you may want to do this yourself, I think I am just overloading bug-wranglers alias.

These suggestions should be written on the appropriate :Talk page for the installation handbook; this is where wiki updates are handled, not bugzilla.
Hi, the bug #370331 is asking for UEFI-capable install media. In contrary, I asked for correction of the documentation. Please close this bug reprot once the documentation is adjusted. BTW, https://kent.dl.sourceforge.net/project/systemrescuecd/sysresccd-x86/4.9.2/systemrescuecd-x86-4.9.2.iso does not boot on UEFI-only computer in my hands. Thank you,

Suggested changes for the wiki docs are handled via the wiki itself, not bugzilla. Please do not reopen this bug; instead, use the appropriate :Talk page of the handbook.
