'USE=-doc-html emerge -v1 sage' works.
Comment 2 François Bissey 2017-02-11 02:19:18 UTC
Interesting... Can you post a full build log?

Hi Francois,

any news with doc-html?
Comment 5 François Bissey 2017-02-19 20:03:51 UTC
Sorry, I am a bit busy at the moment and that one escaped me. Looking at it now. It may be difficult because I suspect it involves a specific hardware configuration. It may have been a problem before, but I was providing binary build of documentation by default (this is coming back in the next release, building sage documentation is too hard on a lot of hardware) which would have been hiding the problem.

Error building the documentation.

The message about there being no space left on the device may be linked to the access violation (I won't let you go there, therefore no space is available, kind of logic) but the "sphinx-err-*.log" file may be more informative about what is actually going on. Could you find them or re-generate them?
Comment 7 Juergen Rose 2017-02-27 22:34:15 UTC
Hallo Francois,

last week I was able to emerge sage-7.5.1-r1 with the doc-html USE flag.
Today I tried to repead the procedure. But now 'emerge -v sage' hangs for about two hours at:

[plot3d ] build succeeded.
Build finished. The built documents can be found in /var/tmp/portage/sci-mathematics/sage-7.5.1-r1/work/sage-7.5.1/src-python2_7/build_doc/inventory/en/reference/plot3d

At my last attempt it needs me 45 minutes to emerge sage:

rose@lynx:/home/rose/Txt/projects/Robina/Administration(63)$ genlop -t sage | tail

     Mon Feb 6 11:00:58 2017 >>> sci-mathematics/sage-7.5.1-r1
merge time: 12 minutes and 7 seconds.

     Thu Feb 9 01:54:43 2017 >>> sci-mathematics/sage-7.5.1-r1
merge time: 9 minutes and 41 seconds.

     Sun Feb 19 22:20:49 2017 >>> sci-mathematics/sage-7.5.1-r1
merge time: 45 minutes and 52 seconds.

Now 'genlop -c' shows:

rose@lynx:/home/rose/Txt/projects/Robina/Administration(65)$ genlop -c

Currently merging 1 out of 1

 * sci-mathematics/sage-7.5.1-r1

current merge time: 2 hours and 28 seconds.
       ETA: any time now.

And this is the second time, that this happens. 'df' seems to show, that there is enough space:

rose@lynx:/home/rose/Txt/projects/Robina/Administration(66)$ df

Grepping for "No space" and "sphinx-err" does not provide any results:

Can you post ~10 lines before
[plot3d ] build succeeded.

please. I suspect one of the plotting command has hung on you, or a pari one ("gp") or a gap one...

Comment 14 François Bissey 2017-02-28 06:41:06 UTC
Thank you. I now have some ideas to work on. Which versions of cython and cysignals are in use?
Comment 15 Juergen Rose 2017-02-28 17:46:05 UTC
Now I have the issue on three systems. Recompiling of python-2.7.13, cython-0.25.2-r1::sage-on-gentoo and cysignals-1.4.0::sage-on-gentoo did not help.
Comment 16 François Bissey 2017-02-28 19:13:09 UTC
Ha! python 2.7.13 made it into the tree. May be we have a culprit, I'll prepare a sage-on-gentoo version ASAP so we can check if it is caused by it.
Comment 17 François Bissey 2017-03-01 04:43:44 UTC
I have updated python in the sage-on-gentoo overlay, upgrade it and try again please.
