Description ivo welch 2004-08-18 11:14:14 UTC
as a new user, I am stumped---what does masked by -* keyword mean? perhaps you could add a table in
  http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=2&chap=2#doc_chap4
that explains the various possible package showstoppers. the current explanation does a nice job explaining arch and ~arch.

regards,

/ivo

Added information on "~arch keyword", "-arch keyword", "-* keyword", "profile" and "package.mask". Also added a little paragraph about profiles and added a link to the cascading profiles document provided by Release Engineering.
