The --rename=<format> currently only supports %a, %t, %l. In my opinion it would be nice if this would be extended with: %L length %f frequency %q ogg quality level %y year %g genre %T track number %c comment Since the necessary information is present adding the filename substitutions should be easy, perhaps a new command-line switch --default-format-value= might be nice so user can set the needed substition if the tag does not contain the required information. It is unclear to me if this is the correct place to request this enhancement, please provide the correct pointer if this is request is out of place here. I'm willing to provide a patch with the necesarry changes. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Normally I'd say that Gentoo usually doesn't add features to software, but it looks like mp32ogg is not being maintained: http://faceprint.com/code/ Honestly, I don't see why such a program is even in portage. Converting from one lossy format to the other will significantly degrade sound quality, even on high bitrates. So I'd recommend, if you're interested in enhancing mp32ogg, get in touch with faceprint and see if he'd let you take it. If you can get a new version released, I'll be happy to add it to portage.
