Created attachment 457618 [details, diff] patch to fix the prefix trouble I'm running a Gentoo prefix install (https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Project:Prefix) and current alsa-utils doesn't merge for me, because some files would be installed outside of the prefix directory. I'm attaching a patch that fixes the situation by fixing the udev rules installation path and adding an explicit asound-state-dir path that includes the prefix, if necessary.

to clarify, your removal of the systemdsystemunitdir is compensated by the addition of asound-state-dir?
Maybe you misread my patch. The line regarding systemdsystemunitdir is not changed at all. It only adds the EPREFIX to --with-udev-rules-dir and adds the line --with-asound-state-dir.
