Description Benjamin Schindler 2016-12-27 10:53:16 UTC
Since I synced a little while ago, I'm unable to do anything with emerge. While running global updates, I get this stacktrace:

metis benjamin # emerge -u okular

I opened bintree.py and inspected the mycpv variable, and got this output:
kde-base/kdelibs-3.4.3-r1

Now, kdelibs-3.4.3-r1 is arguably _very_ old and I have no clue where it is coming from. This is a box that was installed somewhere when the first 64bit processors from amd came around and was kept uptodate with gentoo ever since (including hardware upgrades) :).

Comment 1 Benjamin Schindler 2016-12-27 12:18:18 UTC
Of course, when I post a bugreport, I also find its cause minutes later. It turned out, that I had really old packages lying around in /usr/portage/packages. eclean packages did the trick.

But it would be nice if portage could handle such a situation a bit more gracefully than throwing its hands in the air :)
Comment 4 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2017-05-20 18:09:42 UTC
Fixed in portage-2.3.5.
