I was attempting to emerge kde on my recently reinstalled system and, to my surprise, it wants to merge gentoo-sources-2.4.26-r8. After a few minutes, I found the offending dependency to be arts, which also wants to merge alsa-driver. I am using the 2.6 kernel headers and there is nothing about this kernel in my virtuals. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.emerge -vp arts 2. 3. Actual Results: emerge shows that it wants to merge alsa-driver and arts Expected Results: It should not have tried to merge a kernel that I have never had on the system. butters@ip68-98-249-170 ~ $ emerge -vp arts These are the packages that I would merge, in order: Calculating dependencies ...done! Well, this bug seems to have resolved itself. For 2 days it was happening and now after syncing tonight it stopped, so I guess I'll close this and stop wasting the devvers' time.
