I have no clue what's going on with this. It seems to build fine for me. Do you have an emerge --info, so I can look at what might be different?

enabled (w/o possibility of disabling), I'll try to investigate furthermore in that direction.
It appears that the issue is due to a bad permission of /var/tmp where, for some reason, the portage user wants a read access for some ebuilds (happened also with perl). Sorry for the noise.
