Here is ebuild for my gaim plugin which corrects problems when communicating with broken IM clients in such languages as russian and chiniese (and some others probably).

This is very-very-very important plugin for gaim for cyrillic writing countries - there too many charsets in cyrillic world. We all are waiting impatiently for this ebuild in gentoo mainstream
My initial reaction is to close this since it should be fixed in gaim core now. The whole idea of this mod is flawed to me. Why not fix/patch the problems in core?
Gaim developers would not fix this problem in core. They said that everybody must use "normal" clients, but there are too may broken clients that are used by too many people :(. So it is the only way to fix cyrillic problem in gaim
actually, they have `fixed` this already. lemme tell you short story: part 1: I have come to #gaim@freenode and asked when this problem will be fixed and got answer: "when we will receive good patch/plugin wich won't broke AIM, with per-buddy settings, and como-select of encoding" part2: I have deleoped such a plugin part3: They have developed their own patch which doesn't have per-buddy settings and requires manual setting of global encoding, doesn't work in 100% of cases and brokes my plugin sometimes So I don't really know is it good idea to put partially working plugin into portage or not...
I'm still inclined to say that you should submit your fixes to the gaim team as this addresses a core issue.
Marking WONTFIX as you should really work with core developers since you are addressing bugs with plugins.
