Since the update of thunderbird-bin to 45.5.1, the Thunderbird window is considered to be part of Firefox. In both the activities view of GNOME as well as the task switcher, both Firefox and Thudnerbird share the same icon (the one of Firefox) and you are considered one application with two windows instead of two separate applications. Hi -- to clarify, this seems to be an issue with the way these two apps integrate into GNOME correct? I'm not seeing any such integration here, but I'm using XFCE. The 45.5.1 release was pushed out rather quickly due to the security fix, so it is possible something went a little haywire upstream. I'll look into it.

Did 45.6.0 happen to fix the issue?
I do not see this bug right now with Firefox 50.1.0 and Thunderbird 45.6.0. So it is possible that in one release it was forgotten to change the application id of Thunderbird from Firefox.
