I was following the installation guide when I ran this command to set the GENTOO_MIRRORS variable: 

mirrorselect -i -o >> /mnt/gentoo/etc/portage/make.conf

as recommended here: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:AMD64/Installation/Base#Distribution_files

However the xml file mirrorselect is reading from has an error that causes the command to fail.

Here is the xml file that needs to be fixed: https://api.gentoo.org/mirrors/distfiles.xml

The specific error:
error on line 146 at column 94: Opening and ending tag mismatch: uri line 0 and url

I went ahead and set the GENTOO_MIRRORS variable myself but I just wanted to note that whoever is in control of that webpage might want to fix the xml file.
