Description Reid Fleming 2004-08-11 13:25:46 UTC
gentoo doesn't use rpm, and mondo-rescue should not rely on it.
tried to run "mondoarchive" (mondo-rescue 1.65) on gentoo 2004.2,
get the following fatal error message early on in the process of
running "mondoarchive":
sh: line 1: rpm: command not found
emerge rpm, try again, get the following:
- rpm -q newt newt-devel slang slang-devel ncurses ncurses-devel glibc -
package newt is not installed
package newt-devel is not installed
...

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge mondo-rescue
2. mondoarchive -Oi -s650m -E "/tmp /usr/portage/distfiles" -F -o -k FAILSAFE
3.

Expected Results:
never having run it before on gentoo, i don't know exactly what it would
have said, probably something along the line of "finished successfully"
when it finished building the ISO image.

Comment 1 Jay Pfeifer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-08-13 05:29:37 UTC
can you try this against mondo-rescue 2.03?
Comment 2 Reid Fleming 2004-08-13 11:20:22 UTC
i tried 2.02 from the tgz last night, it has all kinds of issues
with missing pieces in mindi, bad arguments to umount, etc.
i will try 2.03 to see it's any better.
Comment 3 Reid Fleming 2004-08-13 15:02:07 UTC
mondo 2.03 fails, the error message in MA.log.gz is

mkisofs: Uh oh, I cant find the boot image 'image/mindi-bootroot.2880.img'!
Comment 4 Jay Pfeifer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-08-14 10:03:54 UTC
are you still running it as:
mondoarchive -Oi -s650m -E "/tmp /usr/portage/distfiles" -F -o -k FAILSAFE

Thanks,

Jay
Comment 5 Reid Fleming 2004-08-15 10:50:36 UTC
Basically yes. I'm using "-s4000m" in this case because I'm trying to make
a bootable DVD.
I put up an entry under "Installation/Setup Issues" on forum.mondorescue.org
a few days ago, haven't gotten any responses yet.
Comment 6 Jay Pfeifer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-28 00:03:08 UTC
mondo-rescue is masked and pending removal from the portage tree.
