We are currently asking people to manually remember to enable efi-64 in Handbook:
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:AMD64/Installation/Bootloader#Emerge

But, most people trying to install Gentoo on any recent amd64 platform will likely need to get that support enable by default... would not be better to have "saner" defaults for supporting the most common setups today?

Thanks for the really fast fix! (and great job with grub2... the migration has been far easier than I was expecting ;)
