Hope this will be in portage even if we're in a FREEZE mode since
some of us are using gentoo as server and need updated daemons.

Committed. I've tweaked your ebuild so that the xinetd conf file will always be
installed.

pure-ftpd-1.0.12 is currently masked for all platforms. Please unmask and test
it. To do that, add the line

ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86"

to your /etc/make.conf. (Of course, replace "x86" with your platform. Do not
remove the "~", though.)

I've been running pure-ftpd-1.0.12 now for a month and there are no stability   
issues. (Perhaps time to mark it stable for x86 at least, if noone else 
reports problems?)
