Description Jozsa Kristof 2004-08-10 02:26:11 UTC
Installing from universal livecd 2004.2 allows creating LVM2 volumes for install (both kernel and user space support exists). However, LVM2 packages are missing from the CD's distfiles, therefore it's impossible to properly emerge LVM2 to the system being installed. That results in a blown up install, users are unable to boot their new system properly. The only workaround was to copy all lvm and device mapper related files manually to the installed system (really nasty, aint it).

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Expected Results:
The livecd should hold sources for both LVM2 and RedHat's device-mapper packages.

I'll look into this... I'm going to assume this occurred on x86?
Comment 2 Jozsa Kristof 2004-08-10 05:41:24 UTC
Yup, correct, x86. Thanks for checking it.

I've added lvm2 to the spec file used by catalyst to create the LiveCD so they will show up in my next LiveCD. Expect to see my -test series starting up some time soon for 2004.3 (which is still over 2 months away).

you didn't forget the device-mapper package either, did you? :)
Comment 5 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-08-17 06:28:17 UTC
It is a dependency, there is no reason to implicitly add it.
