Demokritos University of Thrace has a new full source mirror available and we'd like it to be listed as an official mirror. It's available via ftp, http and rsync: ftp://ftp.duth.gr/pub/gentoo/ http://ftp.duth.gr/pub/gentoo/ rsync://ftp.duth.gr/gentoo/ Best regards, Adamantios Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Adamantios, I checked your mirror this morning and it looks like its syncing, but it seems a bit slow. I was only able to pull about 65KB/sec via http. Is this rate limited? We do ask that our admins supply at least 5Mb/sec bandwidth. Thanks, Jeffrey
No, there isn't any rate limit. In fact a large portion of our bandwidth (currently 21 Mbps) is guaranteed for the services of the NOC and that includes the mirrors server. Could you please verify that this is a constant phenomenon? Could it have been just a transient network saturation or other misfortune? Regards, Adamantios
Adamantios, Apologies for the late reply. I just checked the speed this morning again and it shot up to about 250KB/sec, and then gradually slowed down to 30KB/sec and stuck there. Both for http and ftp. -Jeffrey
Assuming that the network path all the way from your location to ours could provide higher throughput, the only explanation left is that our link was saturated (see http://netmon.duth.gr/, first graph from the top). If we are not good enough currently ;), we can only wait until the Greek NRN will be able to provide better connectivity for our region... Please let me know your decision as soon as possible, Gentoo is quite large as it is! Kind regards, Adamantios
Tried again and barely got 20KB/sec, where I am able to maxout my 3Mbit cable modem on other sites. I'm going to mark this bug as LATER. Re-open please once you figure out the issue. Thanks, Jeffrey
Okay Jefrey! Take care :)
