Description kavol 2016-10-29 17:51:53 UTC
recently, I started getting a file not found error when trying to open files that have non-ascii characters in names using various app-office/libreoffice-5.1.4.2 programs

in addition, on startup there is the error:

$ lowriter
I18N: X Window System doesn't support locale "cs_CZ.utf8"

the problem already appeared in the past and was reported here:
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42362

which led me to workaround by disabling the 'kde' USE flag and recompiling libreoffice

however, it'd be nice to have it fixed, not just worked around ...

I'm reporting here, because I do not experience this problem on Fedora 24, so it looks distro specific ... feel free to bring this upstream if my guess is wrong, of course

I can confirm this with app-office/libreoffice-5.2.2.2 and app-office/libreoffice-5.2.3.3. My KDE is 5.8.2.

Rebuilding libreoffice with -kde flag works as a workaround.

My locale is set to:

en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8
cs_CZ.UTF-8 UTF-8

LINGUAS="cs"
L10N="cs"

There are several bug reports

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=295212

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42362

Reporting this issue as fixed, but now it is back.

Hmm... it works fine here (de_DE.UTF-8)
Comment 3 Andreas Sturmlechner gentoo-dev 2017-10-12 15:13:18 UTC
Please test with 5.4.2.2.
