Description Frank Daniel 2016-10-29 00:01:06 UTC
I have downloaded the lastest gentoo liveDVD/CD .iso image from the gento.org website.
I also have the most recent prior image of the DVD/CD image and both have the same problem.

I am trying to install Gentoo on a stand-alone PC (I.E. NOT on a server)

In the recent pass I did not have problem with my Logitech USB keyboard/mouse combo.

But now the keyboard/mouse USB devices are not being recognized during the boot/installation from the LiveDVD/CD.
I selected "X86config" from the menu.

During boot/install from the CD/DVD, the boot messages will include "No mouse" and "GPM not started".

Afterwards the mouse and keyboard do not work!

Please note that all my other OS's (Win10, Ubutu, SuSE and Fedora) do not exhibit this problem.

As an addendum;
I have tried all combinations of hardwire and wireless USB keyboards and mouses with no success.
The PS2 mouse works and I threw it into the mix. But again, with no success.
I don't have a PS2 keyboard, so I don't know if that would work.

Using Oracle's virtual box does work. But then again that is expected since the USB drivers are already installed and functional.

I am using an ASUS M5A97LE R2.0 main board. All combinations of keyboard and mouses work in the BIOS menu.

had this problem once with a LiveCD (sysrescuecd)!

please add >> iommu=soft << to the kernel boot parameters.

MyBad.

Found that a change to my P6T BIOS boot setting corrected this bug.
Please close and my apology.

For the benefit of others that might trigger the same behaviour, do you mind sharing what setting you had to change?
Per your last comment, I'm closing the bug.
