Description Donovan Long 2004-08-07 13:09:33 UTC
I sent an email to Macromedia, copying here in case it helps someone....
------------------
Hello,
I noticed an odd bug in Flash for Linux...

- I'm using Gentoo Linux
- The bug occurs with Flash 6.0.81 and 7.0.25
- It shows up in Opera 7.54 Final, Konqueror 3.2.3, Mozilla Firefox 0.9.3
- A website showing the problem is http://internationalart.ca

The top header of this page displays quotes. In Windows, the quotes are usually split onto two moving lines. In Linux Flashplayer, only the first line is visible...

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

Works for me two (mozilla-firefox-0.9.3, netscape-flash-6.0.81)
Attached a Screenshot as i have no direkt way to kompare it to the windows
flash-plugin output)
Comment 3 Donovan Long 2004-08-11 11:18:59 UTC
Very odd, so it's something that is a product of my Gentoo system configuration then. Presumably this package isn't source anyway, so I'm not sure what dependencies could be at fault.

The tail end of 'emerge -ae netscape-flash'
[ebuild N ] sys-devel/gcc [3.3.3-r6]
[ebuild N ] sys-libs/glibc [2.3.3.20040420-r1]
[ebuild N ] sys-libs/lib-compat [1.3]
[ebuild N ] dev-perl/XML-Parser [2.34]
[ebuild N ] dev-util/intltool [0.30]
[ebuild N ] x11-libs/gtk+ [1.2.10-r11]
[ebuild N ] net-www/netscape-flash [7.0.25]

Any suggestions?

Exact same setup as author.

Try visiting http://www.heavy.com/ for example.

Re-assign.
Comment 6 Michal Suchanek 2006-05-26 06:11:40 UTC
Note that flash player needs some fonts to display all text properly.

Perhaps this could be the problem?

The Marillat's Debian package of flash plugin depends on some gsfonts.

Sorry, nothing we could fix here. Go complain to Adobe...
Comment 8 Michal Suchanek 2006-05-30 04:40:28 UTC
If it is indeed the font problem it can be fixed in Gentoo, and only in Gentoo. Upstream should document what fonts are needed, though.

An exact description of the missing content would be helpful (or two screenshots that can be compared).

The font problem would manifest as missing text on some sites. ie on http://tacticsarena.com/play/ if you click the "Launch Game" link a window with progress bar and countdown should apper. If the fonts are missing only the progress bar is visible.
