I also noticed that flash stopped working.

I could get flash back by installing www-plugins/adobe-flash

>>> Installing (1 of 1) www-plugins/adobe-flash-23.0.0.185::gentoo
 * checking 3 files for package collisions
>>> Merging www-plugins/adobe-flash-23.0.0.185 to /

--- /usr/lib64/
--- /usr/lib64/chromium-browser/
>>> /usr/lib64/chromium-browser/PepperFlash/
>>> /usr/lib64/chromium-browser/PepperFlash/libpepflashplayer.so
>>> /usr/lib64/chromium-browser/PepperFlash/manifest.json
--- /etc/
--- /etc/chromium/
>>> /etc/chromium/pepper-flash
>>> www-plugins/adobe-flash-23.0.0.185 merged.

Yes, that is the intention. Somebody just forgot to update the ebuild.
Comment 3 Diogo Pereira 2016-10-14 11:26:03 UTC
It was removed by upstream: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=645687

Looks like Chrome 54 will install and update Flash automatically.

This was fixed yesterday.
