Dmesg after crash

After update to firefox-45.3 my system crash when I used this package. So I block this version and come back to use firefox-36.x.x (last version stable).
But when the version firefox-45.4.0 become avaliable I think that issue was resolved and I try to use with the same problem.
My dmesg after crash:

Could you confirm if the same occurs from Firefox-bin-45.4.0 ?
Comment 2 Ian Stakenvicius (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2016-10-12 15:01:55 UTC
Also please attach emerge --info and build log (at least up to and including the 'configure' stage) so that we can see what's going on from the firefox package's perspective.

You _may_ be able to work around this behaviour with USE="uxa -sna" on x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel

I found this hint here https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/intel_graphics

It worked on one of my Intel GPU setups that was hanging the GPU from firefox.
Comment 7 Nuno Silva 2016-11-02 17:13:42 UTC
I can reproduce this with an Intel 945GM GPU and www-client/firefox-45.* on amd64. Firefox and X11 don't crash, but the screen becomes utterly garbled, and the kernel log mentions a GPU hang.

(Hence I suppose the status can be changed from UNCONFIRMED to something else?)

Generally we leave things in 'Unconfirmed' state until a dev can reproduce it somehow, or it has been confirmed upstream too.

I do wonder if this GPU hang is due to firefox or due to an X11 related issue though. For instance, does a recent google-chrome or chromium cause any similar issues?
Comment 9 Nuno Silva 2016-11-02 20:18:09 UTC
So far, I have not seen any issue with google-chrome (but I use it far less than firefox).

Disabling the hardware acceleration setting in firefox seems to mitigate the issue here, and this did not happen with the previous firefox stable-and-ESR version (38).

I just come back for a travel and I try change my package.use with "x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel uxa -sna" and this work for me. No more crash in my GPU
I don't try the changes suggested in archlinux wiki, but pehaps I try latter.

I use www-client/surf and vivaldi and don't have any issue with this browsers, only with the most recently versions of firefox. But using the change (USE=uxa -sna) the problem is gone.
Comment 12 russiangentooshnik 2016-11-23 16:10:15 UTC
It's probably the X11 issue, I also i945GME very rarely, but it happens a gpu hang using firefox and also, when I tried to run Morrowind under wine-1.6.9, hang also occurred with the appearance of the game menu. By the way, an attempt to change the use flag of x11-drivers/xf86-video-inte from sna to uxa, it so greatly reduces the frame rate in Morrowind under wine that I didn't have the patience even to wait until when will the intro "Zeni Max media company, etc", so if does it work with the game, I'm not sure. This bug I see on the current versions of
firefox from February of this year, it was 44 version of firefox.
Comment 13 Jory A. Pratt gentoo-dev 2017-08-26 17:57:28 UTC
If you feel I have closed your bug and it is still a current issue, please reopen and update it completely. We will not work bugs that have no ebuild in tree any longer or can not be reproduced with a current system.

Thank You for your support and understanding
