emerge --ask sys-kernel/
Tried to use "emerge --ask sys-kernel/" to emerge the gentoo kernel source per instruction. "For amd64-based systems Gentoo recommends the sys-kernel/ package. Choose an appropriate kernel source and install it using emerge: root #emerge --ask sys-kernel/
build.log and emerge --info please
(In reply to Frank Daniel from comment #0) > emerge --ask sys-kernel/ Ah, I see what you are saying. Don't worry about emerge --info or a build log. "sys-kernel/{{#show: Handbook:{{ROOTPAGENAME}}|? kernel-sources}}" is resolving to "sys-kernel/" for AMD64 only (afaics)

Frank, thanks for reporting this. For future submissions: the bug description of "AMD64 Handbook/Installation/Kernel" is somewhat helpful. It is best to add a URL to the appropriate documentation location in the bug description. This field should be used when dealing with documentation that's available on the web. Helps the wiki/docs team quickly find the offending page/article. NP - Thanks for helping this user and for the IRC notification; I generally don't check e-mail as much as I should. The problem should now be resolved; I rebuilt the wiki's database. Reopen if you still experience and offense.

(In reply to Matthew Marchese from comment #5) > The problem should now be resolved; I rebuilt the wiki's database. Reopen if > you still experience and offense. That's merely a temporary workaround for the underlying issue. To properly fix it, the next wiki software update will have another way of storing data like handbook strings.
I have already pass those problems as I have installed Gentoo a few times. It would appear that someone need to proof read and actually attempt the instructions as a newbee and comment on the documentation. Actually, this is very likely need for all the documentation. I have been confused at times with the present set of documentation.

This bug you filed concerns a technical issue with the wiki software, not one regarding document quality. Please stay on topic. > Actually, this is very likely need for all the documentation. No, I disagree. This problem is systemic with all of the documentation. There is little or no coition between the sections. It appears that no ones has corrugated the basic units such as systemd, grub, xorg etc. Google helps, but leads to many false trails.

Apart from the handbook, the wiki is a collaboration effort of our community. I pointed out ways to improve that, filing a bug is not an option. As you keep derailing the topic, I'll be using another bug to track the actual issue.
Watch here for new development. This is still a bug for continuity of the whole tamale
