Description Ivar Ylvisaker 2004-08-05 12:07:14 UTC
The depclean paragraph of the emerge man page does not make plain that listed packages will be removed automatically unless the user aborts the command. The paragraph reads in part "... the differences are listed as unnecessary packages and are suggested for unmerging." Time for a leisurely review is implied, not a 5 second countdown. The naive user (like me) may have turned away from the screen.

The help option of the emerge command is clearer: "Cleans the system by removing packages ...."

compares that list to the list of packages which are actually
installed; the differences are listed as unnecessary packages
and then unmerged after a short timeout.
