Description fff 2016-09-16 11:36:03 UTC
Power cycling the monitor disables the HDMI output and a Xorg restart is required each time I switch on/off the monitor.

This bug was present in 4.12.0 and the current patch (https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/tree/xfce-base/xfce4-settings/files/xfce4-settings-4.12.0-HDMI-power-cycling.patch) was neccesary to make it work.

The patch was omitted in 4.12.1 and the bug is present now. It needs be applied also to this version.

That bug is already fixed in this commit tho?

https://git.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-settings/commit/?id=2233f20a7ec6d7cb7dcc5752d62d98e37d9c21ad

This bug is where the original patch came from and where the better one was posted later.

For my computer the bug is again here, and manually applying the patch file to 4.12.1 makes it work again (not black screen after poweroff the monitor). I am going to open a bug report with the xfce people.

Awesome, thanks! Can you link to the xfce bugzilla when you've filed it so we can track it here too?

thanks! in the mean time you can put the patch in /etc/portage/patches/ to get it applied on your machine.
