Created attachment 445776 [details] vim-core-8.0.0004:20160915-064407.log This file collision obstructs upgrades. It can probably be worked around by setting blockers. >>> Completed installing vim-core-8.0.0004 into /tmp/portage/app-editors/vim-core-8.0.0004/image/ * Final size of build directory: 50032 KiB * Final size of installed tree: 25088 KiB strip: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-strip --strip-unneeded -R .comment -R .GCC.command.line -R .note.gnu.gold-version usr/bin/xxd ecompressdir: xz -9 /usr/share/man * This package will overwrite one or more files that may belong to other * packages (see list below). It blocks installation of app-editors/gvim-8.0.0004, too (it has `/usr/share/applications/gvim.desktop` as well, and no wonder).
Confirmed here... I guess that the status can be changed :)
Same here.
Confirmed here as well.

Same here. One of both packages conflict with the gvim.desktop, so I think it must deleted before in vim-core.
Guys, please stop those "same here" and "+1", don't litter others' mailboxes, just add yourselves to CC and wait for a fix. Workaround for the time being: # emerge -a1 vim-core # rm /usr/share/applications/gvim.desktop # emerge -a gvim
Should be fixed in 8.0.0005.
