Description Ryan Hill (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2016-09-13 01:28:48 UTC
I cannot make a bootable usb from recent Gentoo install stages. I have tried unetbootin, Rufus, and both the dd and manual methods from https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/LiveUSB/Guide. I tried 3 different usb sticks and all successfully worked with an Arch/Fedora images. The livedvd image also worked (livedvd-amd64-multilib-20160704.iso).

I have tried:

install-amd64-minimal-20160908.iso
install-amd64-minimal-20160901.iso
install-amd64-minimal-20160825.iso

with 0 luck, and that's as far back as I can find isos for.

Ryan,

have you tried running "isohybrid <iso>" and copying it with dd to the usb stick?
I've used that method to create usb sticks at work. "isohybrid -u <iso>" even worked on my amd64 uefi systems at work.
