nautilus 2.0.2, metacity 2.3.987-r2, and all other base gnome2 packages does not install the gconf scheme of each packages. So metacity haven't shortcuts keyboard,Gnome desktop haven't background picture, the gtk theme selector is unable to change the theme, and many other disorder.
now this is urgent What version of gconf is it that you have installed?
question, how are you installing this? do you build packages and install or do you build from source?
The gconf version used was 1.2.0-r4: The entry system was build last week from an updated portage tree, with emerge -b gnome on a Gentoo 1.2 system. In sample for metacity when I used metacity-2.3.987-r2 schemas aren't installed in gconf. If I emerge an older package before, schemas are installed by the older package and used correctly by the new, and it look like that for other gnome2 packages.
okay.. first it seems you are missing settings from /etc/make.globals it should have the line : CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf" in it. Next, you have hit the bug on gnome2.eclass extracting of CONTENTS to find schemas, please try this patch (attaching) as it has been posted to -dev list for testing.
Created attachment 2804 [details, diff] gnome2.eclass.diff this patch goes against /usr/portage/eclass/gnome2.eclass and should make it work for you. sorry about the inconvenience but I've needed more testing on this.
CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf" was already in /etc/make.globals. After applying the patch all seem work nice, schemas are merged succesfully in gconf. Thank's.
this is now fixed.
