Description Matthias Peick 2004-08-02 11:24:24 UTC
Missing the command "lockfile"

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

kmail needs the command lockfile which is part of procmail. So the package
kde-base/kdepim should depend on procmail.
Comment 1 Matthias Peick 2004-08-02 11:26:38 UTC
kmail could not lock in /var/spool/mail
Comment 2 Gregorio Guidi (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-02-09 06:10:14 UTC
I don't think procmail should be a hard dependency, it is only needed if
you enable the "Procmail lockfile" locking method, and that is mainly useful
if you already have procmail installed and use it to manage your local
mailbox...
Comment 3 Dan Armak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-02-18 12:19:32 UTC
I agree with Gregorio, this shouldn't be a hard dep.
As for an optional dep, I always feel a bit silly adding a local use flag
that does nothing beyond adding a dep, and doesn't affect the built program
in any way...
Does it even make sense to use this if you don't already have
procmail installed? Presumably other apps would need procmail's lockfile to
participate in the locking scheme, too.
I think we should close this.
Comment 4 Gregorio Guidi (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-06 09:05:17 UTC
Closing for now. We can reopen in future if we get more requests for it.
